LABOR MANAGEMENT PARTNERSHIPS

IN THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT

NTEU urges you to cosponsor S. 2197 and H.R. 3892 to reinstate labor-management partnerships in the federal government.

GOVERNMENT PRIVATIZATION

NTEU urges:
• Opposition to efforts to repeal these competitive sourcing provisions when they are offered  as committee or floor amendments.
• Cosponsorship of HR 695 introduced by Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) and S. 335 introduced by Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-ND) to prevent IRS from using private collection agencies to collect federal taxes.

FEHBP AND HEALTH CARE AFFORDABILITY

NTEU urges:
• Co-sponsorship of H.R. 1256 to increase the federal share of FEHBP premiums
• Support for requiring OPM to apply for the Medicare prescription drug subsidy
• Support for a government contribution towards FEDVIP
• Opposition to high deductible health plans (HDHPs) and HSAs
• Co-sponsorship of H.R. 3799, the Federal Employees Paid Parental Leave Act

FEDERAL RETIREE ISSUES

NTEU asks for: 

• Co-sponsorship of H.R. 82 and S. 206 to repeal the social security offsets;
• Co-sponsorship of H.R. 1110 by Rep. Thomas Davis (R-VA) and S.773, by Sen. John Warner (R-VA) for pre-tax treatment of health insurance premiums;
• support for legislation allowing credit for unused sick leave under FERS, likely to be introduced by Rep. Jim Moran (D-VA).

DHS PERSONNEL ISSUES

NTEU urges your support to:
• Repeal the Homeland Security Act’s personnel management provisions
• Cosponsor H.R. 3212 to provide collective bargaining for TSA employees
• End the One Face at the Border initiative
• Significantly increase staffing at the U.S. ports of entry
• Reject any effort to repeal the newly-won and long-deserved CBP Officer LEO retirement benefit or rescind its funding.
