HATCH ACT DO’S and DON’TS

Employees May:

 ü     Register and vote as they choose

ü     Assist in voter registration drives

ü     Express opinions about all candidates and issues

ü     Run for election to a non-partisan office

ü     Contribute to political organizations or attend a political fundraising reception;

ü     Sign petitions, including nominating petitions

ü     Wear political badges, buttons (except in government bldg)

ü     Run for office within party organizations and affiliated groups

ü     Attend political conventions, rallies, and meetings as an elected representative of a partisan organization

ü     Take an active part in political management of campaigns

ü     Solicit contributions from fellow NTEU members to the TEPAC fund

 

Employees May Not:

ü     Be candidates for partisan political office

ü     Use their official position to influence or coerce colleagues and election results

ü     Wear political buttons or engage in other political activity in government buildings

ü     Collect, solicit, receive, handle, disburse or account for contributions from the general public

ü     Wear a government uniform or government insignia while engaged in political activities
